GOTA Piri-Piri

Piri-piri is a traditional hot sauce which has become a symbol of Portugal. It has been a staple of the Portuguese table since the age of discovery in the 14th century.

GOTA Piri-piri sauce is produced from crushed red chili peppers and other hand-selected, high quality ingredients.   They use a traditional Portuguese Piri-piri recipe that has been a favourite for generations, but their special ingredients give it a unique flavour – their own spicy taste of Portugal. Try GOTA Piri-Piri sauce to taste one of the most significant contributions that the Portuguese have made to the culinary world.  
  • Portuguese piri piri chicken
Cut one large chicken in half. Heat oven to 200C. Slice each half of the chicken at least 3 times so the marinade can really penetrate and flavour the meat. Pour over GOTA piri-piri sauce and leave in the fridge to marinate. After 2 hours, mix well arrange the chicken, skin-side up, in a roasting tin. Cook for 30 mins, then increase heat to 220C and cook for another 15 mins until the skin is crispy and golden.

  Portuguese piri piri chicken

Serve chicken with vegetables or salad. Perfect with any kind of poultry, red meat, shrimp and delivers a hot and spicy kick to vegetables, rice, salads, bread.
