CSEC visits Ministry of Higher Education

Civil and Structural Engineering Consultants Pvt. Ltd. (CSEC) pays a courtesy visit to the Minister of Higher Education, His Excellency Honorable Dr. Ibrahim Hassan.

A high delegation of CSEC visits Maldives, including Prof. Priyan Mendis, Honorary Chair of CSEC, a world renowned Structural Engineer who has been a consultant for many prestigious and landmark projects across the globe including Burj Kalifa, the world’s tallest building. The team was also accompanied by the Managing Director of the company, Eng. Shiromal Fernando, who is one of the leading structural engineers in Sri Lanka, who has been the Principal Structural Engineer for many high-rise buildings including the tallest building in Sri Lanka, along with CSEC Director Bathiya Waduge.

CSEC is a state of the art consultancy firm comprising of some of the most prominent Structural Engineers in the industry and academia. CSEC is currently engaged in some of the key landmark projects in Sri Lanka (such as the iconic Lotus Tower) and overseas.

CSEC has extended their reach to Maldives by undertaking projects like Vakkaru Luxury Resort and Nasandhura. Signalling intention of long term association with the Maldives, they have formed a strategic partnership with one of the most dynamic local firms, 960 Consultants, a subsidiary of 960 Holdings.

The meeting was held to introduce CSEC to Ministry of Higher Education and to discuss ways in which CSEC could contribute to add value to academia in Maldives. CSEC and 960 Consultants discussed on refining the curriculum of engineering, providing new courses like Modular construction and providing industrial training. Furthermore, CSEC and 960 Consultants extended the offer to facilitate guest lecturers with years of experience and providing (e-learning) system in Maldives National University (MNU) and Maldives Polytechnic.

Expressing his vision of enriching breadth of academia in Maldives, Minister of Higher Education His Excellency Honorable Dr. Ibrahim Hassan mentioned that the Ministry is looking forward to working alongside CSEC to support undergraduate engineering students to get internship placements and get professional development or ‘chartered’ status to practitioners in the Maldives.
